"THY WILL BE DONE".
William Snook was born in 1825 to William and Anne Snook (nee Picket/Piggott) who lived in Furzey Lodge, the fifth of their nine children. He was baptised at Beaulieu church on 29th March 1825.
The 1841 census lists William, aged 15, living with his parents, three younger siblings and his maternal grandfather, Thomas Picket, in Furzey Lodge with his father working as a brick layer. His 7-year-old brother, Walter, is living with his aunt Elizabeth and William Scanes in Bucklers Hard.
Martha Mullins was born in Beaulieu Rails in 1826 to William and Sarah Mullins (nee Kitcher) and was the elder sister of Jane. Her father died in 1841 when Martha was 15 and the census of that year lists Martha living with her mother and sister near the rope factory (near Masseys Lane).
Martha married William Snook on 19th August 1847 at Boldre church.
In 1951 Martha and William and their two infant children, Sarah and William, lived with her mother, Sarah, who worked as a sack sewer at the nearby rope factory. William was working as an agricultural labourer.
The 1861 census shows William and Martha and their children have their own home. In 1868 their daughter Sarah had a son George and in 1870 a daughter Annie. They all lived with William and Martha.
The 1881 census shows 13-year-old grandson George remains living with William and Martha. (Sarah had married Alexander Kidgell in 1878 she and Annie were living with him).
By 1891, William and Martha have son Wiliam and grandson George living with them.
Martha and William’s deaths post-date the chapel’s surviving burial register so their burials are not recorded.
